Role Description

The Cosmetologist and or Barber will deliver a full range of professional hair services — including cutting, styling, and grooming — for clients of all ages, with a specialty focus on children and family-oriented care. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting thorough client consultations, recommending appropriate styles and treatments, performing services to a high standard of quality, and maintaining clean, sanitized tools and workstations in accordance with California health and safety regulations. The role also involves managing appointment schedules, supporting retail product recommendations, and upholding the professional, positive salon culture that defines the Purple Monkey experience. We encourage stylists to build strong client relationships and show up consistently. This is a full-time or part-time, on-site position based in Belvedere Tiburon, CA.

Compensation

This position is commission-based at 50% of service revenue. With a full client book, total earnings including commission and gratuities can reach $60 per hour.

Qualifications

Current cosmetology and/or barber license in the state of California, with demonstrated proficiency in cutting, & styling.Experience working with clients of all ages, including children; the ability to create a calm, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring experience for younger guests and their families is highly valuedStrong client consultation skills, with the ability to actively listen, assess individual needs, and deliver results that align with client expectationsStrict adherence to hygiene and safety standards, including proper sanitation of tools, equipment, and workstationsProfessional, personable, and inclusive communication style with clients and colleagues alikeStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a full appointment schedule in a team-oriented environment
