We specialize in custom hair color, precision cutting, and specialized treatments using Aveda and Davines — two of the industry's most respected sustainable product lines. Led by Noel Shabazian, a stylist with over 30 years of experience, the salon has an established reputation and a loyal clientele in one of the East Bay's most desirable neighborhoods. We are looking for a skilled, licensed cosmetologist to join our team as a W2 employee. Eco-conscious salon committed to non-toxic, eco-friendly products — we use Aveda and Davines exclusively Artistic, fun and collaborative group of stylists - we work hard, respect each other and all pitch in on maintaining a positive work environment Established client base and strong community presence on one of the East Bay's most walkable retail corridors Owner-operated with 30+ years of industry experience — you'll be mentored, not just managed Professional environment with full backbar, clean modern stations, and a culture of craft and collaboration Modern compensation package: commission against an hourly base, PTO, retirement contribution, professional development stipend and retail commission Flexibility in choosing own schedule (4+ days, one weekend day required) The Role As a W2 stylist at Raven & Rose, you'll serve Raven & Rose clients and build your own book within the salon. You'll work alongside a small, professional team in a collaborative environment where quality of work and client experience are the primary metrics of success. You'll be responsible for: Delivering exceptional hair color, cutting, and treatment services consistent with Raven & Rose's quality standards Building and retaining your client relationships Maintaining your station in clean, professional condition Participating in required staff meetings (compensated) Representing Raven & Rose's eco-conscious brand and values in all client interactions Following all California cosmetology and salon health and safety requirements Compensation Raven & Rose calculates pay in accordance with California Labor Code Section 204.11. Stylists receive the higher of commission earned or hourly minimum for all hours worked (California law requires whichever is greater). Service Commission - CA hourly wage floor applies — you receive the higher of 47% commission or $20/ hour Retail Commission - 7% - 15%, depending on volume of sales/ pay period Tips - 100% of tips passed through Square to you — salon does not retain any portion Requirements Current California cosmetology license 2+ years’ experience as a stylist post-cosmetology school (apprenticeship experience may be accepted if applicant exhibits proficiency and professionalism congruent with a junior stylist) Demonstrated proficiency in hair cutting and color services (balayage, highlights, color correction experience a plus) High comfort level with complex, full-line color formulation (does not need to be Aveda) Strong client communication and consultation skills Reliable, professional, and punctual Collaborative, team-forward mindset Preferred / Nice to Have Experience with Aveda or Davines product lines Established clientele (not required — we support book-building) Active social media presence and willingness to photograph your work Experience in a boutique or independent salon environment Interested?
