Weekend Hair Stylist

With two established locations on the Upper West Side, Masa.Kanai is a Japanese salon dedicated to technique, craftmanship, and beauty. We are seeking an experienced stylist to join our team. Ideal schedule would be Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays. Less or more days can be possible if it is a good match.


At Masa.Kanai, we don't just cut hair. We unlock our client's inner confidence. We are known for:


- Our Signature Technique: A multi-step cutting process designed to enhance shape, detail, and longevity.

- Custom, Patented Japanese Scissors: Handcrafted shears imported directly to our salon that elevates precise weight removal, purposeful texturing, cleaner lines, etc.

- Advanced Education: Weekly practices in which every team member can individually learn and practice new skills & techniques at their own pace with our educators


Even with two locations, we are often fully booked and turning away guests. As such, there is strong potential to build clientele and earn a lot with a commission-based salary + gratuity (where barber cuts average $90 and standard cuts average $170). As a new stylist, you will also be given a promotional period where any new client and no-request returns are prioritized to you.

Please note that a minimum of 4x 1-hour sessions to practice our signature technique will be required before we can start you on the floor.


Pay: $35.00 - $100.00 per hour
