Build Your Hair Business in a Professional Salon Setting

Gold Coast Beauty Spa by Shanzo is inviting licensed Illinois Hair Stylists and Cosmetologists to provide professional hair services in our Gold Coast salon. This opportunity is a strong fit for a stylist who takes pride in technical work, creates a polished client experience, and wants to grow a loyal book of business through rebooking, referrals, networking, personal promotion, and long-term client relationships.

An established clientele is welcome, but it is not required. The salon may also make salon-generated client opportunities available.

How the Opportunity Works

· Services are provided as a 1099 independent contractor.

· 50/50 split on eligible hair-service revenue.

· You keep your tips.

· Estimated average earnings are approximately $30 per completed service hour or about $1,200 per week, depending on completed service volume and clientele.

· Commission earnings are uncapped; earnings are not guaranteed.

· Appointments and payment processing are managed through Clover.

· Professional salon workspace in Chicago's Gold Coast.

· You establish service availability that supports your independent business.

Your Client and Service Focus

· Perform professional hair services within the scope of your license, training, experience, and demonstrated proficiency.

· Consult with clients about their hair goals and recommend appropriate services.

· Create a consistent, welcoming, and high-quality salon experience.

· Develop and retain clientele through rebooking, referrals, outreach, networking, social media, and other promotional activity.

· Keep appointments and client information accurate in Clover.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and properly sanitized service area.

· Follow applicable Illinois licensing, sanitation, infection-control, and safety requirements.

· Communicate professionally with clients and represent both your independent business and the salon responsibly.

Services You May Offer

· Haircuts and trims

· Blowouts, silk presses, and thermal styling

· Shampoo, conditioning, and hair treatments

· Single-process color, highlights, balayage, and corrective color

· Natural hair styling and protective styles

· Relaxers, smoothing services, and texture services

· Formal, bridal, and special-event styling

· Hair extensions, when supported by demonstrated training and proficiency

What We're Looking For

· Active Illinois Cosmetology License

· Strong technical ability in one or more hair-service categories

· Professional portfolio or social media page that shows your work

· Working knowledge of sanitation, product handling, and infection-control practices

· Strong consultation, communication, and client-service skills

· Ability to independently promote services and build, manage, and retain clientele

· Professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, and a business-owner mindset

Independent Contractor Information

This is not an employee position. The selected stylist will provide services as a 1099 independent contractor and is responsible for federal, state, and local taxes, including self-employment taxes. Independent contractors are not eligible for employee benefits. Compensation is commission-based, is not guaranteed, and varies according to completed service revenue and individual business activity.
