About We Love Hair

We Love Hair is a locally owned/operated hair salon. We are proud to have served Abilene and the surrounding area clients for 29 years. We've built a strong, loyal clientelle and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for both our clients and our stylists. We are not a high-end salon, and we are not a "cut shop", we position and advertise our salon as a very nice place in-between those two extremes. Our avg haircut price is $27. Our salon consistently performs around 54% men's cuts; 31% women's services and 15% children under age 10. Our maximum amount of stylists is 9, minimum is 7.

Pay:

-Hourly starting at $16-$17 ph, depending on overall experience. With Tips, our stylists average $25-$30 + per hour.

-Pay is bi-weekly, direct deposit.

-Personal Day Pay: Personal Days are paid days off, whether vacation or sick pay. New hires start with 4 PD. When you reach one year, you get 8 PD's per year. Reach 3 years, 12 PD per year.

Job Overview

We are looking for someone who is friendly, honest, dependable and mature. A skilled stylist or barber who takes pride in their work and wants a stable, drama-free place to call their work-home.

-We currently need a part-time stylist to work 25-30 hours per week. This can work into FT eventually.

-Our Schedules vary each week with three different shifts each day:

-Shifts: Open 9-5:30; Mid 9:30-6; Close 10-6:30

We are open M-Sat 9am-6:30pm; Sundays 12-5. We toggle the Sunday Shifts so everyone gets some Sunday's off. We also toggle weekends off, expect a weekend once per month, or more, depending on if we are fully staffed.

What makes us different:

-Our unique business style balances walk-in haircuts and appointments, in order to offer both cutting and styling/color/perm services, while maintaining a steady haircut cash-flow

-A professional but relaxed salon environment with a casual/professional dress code

-No uniforms; all stylists wear black aprons

-No quotas to meet, or pressure sales

-20% Straight commission on all product sales

-Steady walk-in clientele

-Very Strong Tips (Stylists avg. $25-$30/hour with tips)

-Work no more than 5 days in a row, usually less, with two days off per week. Part time can offer 3 days of per week.

-Weekends off are rotated fairly. With 7+ stylists, expect to have one weekend off every 3 weeks.

-Owner is a Stylist (39 years) no longer behind the chair. She is hands-on, supportive and genuinely cares about the people who work here.

-Close-knit group. All of our stylists work well together, have one another's backs and keep things positive.

-Salon has cameras for safety, you will never work alone, you will never be asked to travel

-We do not hire every applicant. We interview to determine a good fit for us, and for the applicant.

-We do not have job openings often. Usually one opening every 1-3 years. Most of our Stylists have been with us for years.

We supply everything you need except shears; clippers; trimmers and any special combs.

All back-bar and station products, provided

All retail stocked.

Qualifications
• Valid Texas Cosmetology/Barbering license
• Experience in all haircutting techniques, scissor and clipper a must
• We prefer 3-5 years experience behind the chair, *but will consider less if your cutting skills are strong
• Good communication skills to connect effectively with clients and team members
